General Description/ Primary Purpose :
The Department of Physics at the University of North Florida is now accepting applications for a permanent, 12-month, non-tenure track, Lecturer faculty position to begin in August 2020. Responsibilities include teaching and preparing undergraduate astronomy laboratory courses, lecturing introductory astronomy courses as needed, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our curriculum. An ability and interest in teaching physics laboratories and lower-level introductory physics lecture courses is also desirable. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to contribute service to both the university and to the profession. The ideal candidate will have previous, documented experience in teaching undergraduate laboratory courses in Physics and/or Astronomy. The successful candidate must demonstrate the commitment and capability to provide an excellent learning environment to students and to contribute to the continuing development of curricular content, in particular laboratory course experiments.
Not including this position, the Department consists of ten tenure track faculty and seven non-tenure track lecturers. The Department has research clusters in astrophysics, condensed matter physics, and earth science. The Department has a very active outreach program and will enjoy added renovated facilities from Spring 2020, including the installation of an observatory on campus.

Faculty Position Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a minimum of a masters degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics or closely related field.
