Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Physics at the University of North
Texas (UNT) invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant
Professor position, to begin the summer of 2020 or later. The
successful candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching of
introductory physics courses, and to play an important role in
modernizing and improving the effectiveness of the introductory
laboratory courses offered by the UNT Physics Department. The
successful candidate will bring insights from Physics Education Research
(PER) to improve pedagogical as well as scientific aspects of the
introductory physics lab courses, and will collaborate on research on
student learning from computational and experimental laboratory
activities.
Nationally, UNT is ranked in the top tier of research universities according to the Carnegie Classification (R1-Very High Research Activity). With a diverse population of over 38,000 students, UNT is one of the largest educational institutions in Texas and the most comprehensive university in the Dallas-Fort Worth/North Texas area. Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Physics, Physics Education, or a closely related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Physics Education Research, and experience
both in teaching introductory physics lecture courses and in the design
and evaluation of physics laboratory activities are strongly preferred.
