Overview:
The full time faculty member is responsible for facilitating student learning by delivering educational courses and programs, in accordance with DeVry University requirements, in the area of Mathematics and Physics. These courses include, but are not limited to, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and College Physics. The qualified Instructor must be prepared to teach classes at the Bachelor's level. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Develop strategies to teach the course for the entire semester or session, using DeVry University curriculum guides and meeting the university's academic standards.
-Develop and provide students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, center, or Online, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
-Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials.

Scholarship activities result in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, and peer-reviewed instructional materials. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Required: A PhD in mathematics, physics or a related discipline; ABD candidates near degree completion will be considered; college teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence in both mathematics and physics disciplines, and a commitment to undergraduate education; excellent communication and organization skills; ability to work effectively with a diverse student population; a record of scholarly activities commensurate with appointment at the assistant professor level.

TT at Harvey Mudd College
The Department of Physics of Harvey Mudd College, one of the Claremont Colleges, has an opening for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level, beginning September 2012. In exceptional circumstances a more senior appointment may be considered. The department has twelve full-time members; we graduate approximately twenty physics majors each year. We seek an experimental physicist with broad intellectual interests who can excel at teaching outstanding undergraduates and who can establish an active research program involving undergraduates. Current areas of research in the department include atomic physics, theoretical astrophysics and observational astronomy, biophysics, energy and the environment, geophysics, quantum and nonlinear optics, condensed matter physics, and theoretical particle physics, including string theory.

Government Relations Specialist at APS
The American Physical Society (APS) http://www.aps.org, the major professional association for physicists, has an exciting opportunity for a physicist familiar with the legislative process to fill the position of Government Relations Specialist. The position is based at the APS Office of Public Affairs in Washington, DC in the National Press Building. Responsibilities include analyzing federal science research and education budgets; developing and implementing advocacy strategies on STEM-Ed issues; representing APS and the Office of Public Affairs at selected advocacy coalition meetings, scientific meetings, APS national & divisional meetings, and APS committee meetings; delivering lectures on science policy issues at universities, national laboratories, and other venues. Ph.D. in Physics necessary and interest in physics education required (experience desirable). Good understanding of APS membership culture helpful.
