Location: Lone Star College-North Harris, Greenspoint & Carver Center
Hiring Range Starting salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience. This is a full-time contract- level position. Incumbent may choose 9 or 10.5-month work schedule.
Position Summary
Provides learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the Lone Star College System and the community. Responsibilities include learning facilitation, personal and professional development, and institutional and community service. Primary functions are to plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Job Functions
Teaches full range of freshman and sophomore Physics courses.
Advises students in academic matters.
Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Works with students outside of classroom as needed and is accessible through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
Develops and uses a syllabus for each course within college and departmental guidelines. Post syllabus online for each course, each semester.
Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
Plans, develops, and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
Teaches courses in a distance-learning environment as needed.
Establishes annual objectives, including personal and professional growth plans in consultation with dean.
Participates in college-related activities such as registration, community education, recruitment of students, student advising, graduation, selection of faculty, student activities, and/or special programs.
Serves on departmental, college and system-wide committees, as needed.
Submits required college reports and forms.
Becomes familiar with and adheres to all policies and procedures of the LSC System.
Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education Campus Specific
Master's degree in Physics or a closely related physical science, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Physics or a closely related physical science.
LSC-Online certification or a commitment to obtain certification through Lone Star College System within 12 months of employment. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated interest and/or experience with interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning.
Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning. Preferred Qualifications/EducationCommunity college teaching experience.
Experience teaching freshman level physics courses.
Experience with student-centered, active-engagement teaching methods.
Familiarity with Physics Education Research (PER) studies.
