Junior Research Fellowships at Imperial College London

Imperial College London is delighted to invite applications for its Junior Research Fellowship scheme, to give outstanding early-career researchers an opportunity to develop independent research programmes. In 2011, we will be awarding up to 20 fellowships. Each one offers up to three years funding (stipend in the range £31,340 to £36,860 and up to £10,000 per annum research expenses). Fellowships are designed to provide freedom to focus on research: there are no obligatory teaching or administrative duties. Applicants will be encouraged to apply for additional sources of funding to allow them to strengthen their research programme.

Proposals will be accepted in all research areas active at Imperial College London. Multidisciplinary projects are welcomed.

Applicants will need to identify an Imperial College academic staff member to act as their sponsor who will provide laboratory space, facilities and mentorship for the tenure of the fellowship. Candidates may be from the UK or abroad and will be normally expected to have up to 4 years post-doctoral experience at the time of application. Proposals will be judged primarily on the basis of scientific merit, track record of the applicant and potential for development of an independent research programme.
