Two posts at Sheffield Hallam University

Research Professors in Education
Sheffield Hallam University - Faculty of Development and Society

x 2 posts

Permanent
Salary circa £55,000 per annum

Provide strategic leadership for education research across the faculty and strengthen Sheffield Hallam's established reputation in the field.

The roles

These two new posts will be critical to maintaining Sheffield Hallam's established reputation in education research, policy and practice. One will be based in the Department of Teacher Education and one in the Department of Education, Childhood and Inclusion.

Both are thriving departments that seek to contribute to the development of professional communities and practice. They achieve this through initial and continuing professional education; work in the children, young people and early years sectors; and consultancy and research.

Joining a team with a strong research culture that is committed to high-quality teaching and scholarship, you will also collaborate closely with two research centres: the Centre for Education and Inclusion Research, and the Centre for Science Education.

The requirements

You will have a strong research profile, a track-record of high-quality publications and a proven ability to gain research council, charity or research contract funding. Proven leadership skills, a commitment to high-quality teaching at all levels and the ability to take a lead in the strategic development of education research are all essential.

All applications will be considered on their merits but desirable areas of expertise include:

Learning and teaching in mathematics, science or literacy
Professional development of teachers and the wider school workforce
Disability and inclusion
Early years and childhood
Education policy
A professorial title will be conferred to the successful candidate(s) if the University's Professorial criteria are met. These criteria are detailed in the application pack.

If offered this post, you will be subject to an Enhanced criminal records check by the Criminal Records Bureau. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
