The role: Curriculum Fellow
You are an excellent Science or Math teacher with experience teaching middle school or high school, with strong interest in computing and computer science. You will work on a 12-month program to help design and test curriculum that integrates computing education into K-12 STEM programs. You will work with Google products to create content, and at the core developing curriculum based on computational thinking. You are a self-motivated, creative teacher looking to broaden his/her experience through curriculum development in partnership with industry.
Responsibilities:
Create an original series of modular student activities and lesson plans for K-12 students in computational thinking.
Help define and carry out pilot program on an ongoing basis
Work with project manager to refine short- and long-term roll-out plans
Work with engineers to build a useful delivery mechanism for teachers and moderate an online forums and update project website
Requirements:
Science or Math credential or BA/BS in content area or equivalent, MS a plus
At least 2 years of experience teaching middle school or high school science or math background
Willingness to leave the classroom for one school year
Strong interest in teaching Technology or Computingedge of the latest changes to standards and active involvement in educational groups
Ability to come to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA 5 days/week
Excellent communication and organizational skills and a self-starter
