The Science and Technology Education Group at King's has an international reputation for its research. We are looking for an exceptional person for a part-time post-doctoral research associate (0.5 fte) position. The RA is required from May 1, 2011 until November 30, 2013 to work on the newly-funded EC project 'Inquiry-based teacher training for a sustainable future (INQUIRE)'. We are primarily interested in appointing a person with experience and expertise in any or all of the following areas: inquiry-based science education; science teacher education; science education in botanic gardens; education for sustainability; environmental education.
The work of the person appointed to this post will involve a range of research activities including undertaking visits to botanic gardens in Europe to support education staff in researching their own practice in developing professional development courses for teachers that promote inquiry-based science education. The post will also require the ability to write well to tight deadlines.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in a relevant field, for example, environmental education; science education; teacher development or action research. Preference will be given to applicants with strong analytical and writing skills and qualitative research experience. The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience, within the Grade 6 scale, currently £33,193 to £38,185, per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance, per annum.
