VAP at James Madison University

James Madison University invites applications for a one-year faculty position for the 2011-2012 academic year in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. We seek candidates with an advanced degree in astronomy or physics. The department has 21 full-time faculty members and ~110 students in our multi-track baccalaureate-only program. James Madison University is a selective, comprehensive, coeducational state university, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Enrollment is approximately 17000. The successful candidate will teach introductory physics or physical science for non-science majors. Additional duties may include conducting general physics or introductory electronics laboratories. A demonstrated interest and ability in teaching courses relevant to the position is required. Qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field.
