TT at University of Portland

The University of Portland invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Physics beginning in August 2012. Candidates in any area of physics will be considered. Teaching responsibilities will include lower-division and upper-division course offerings in physics, both lectures and labs. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field, evidence of excellence in teaching physics, and the ability to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program in the applicant's area of specialization with undergraduates are required. Applicants must demonstrate success in both teaching and research endeavors. The deadline for receipt of applications is December 1, 2011. Applicants should submit by email: (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a statement of teaching experience and philosophy, and (3) a description of the research program the applicant plans to establish at the University of Portland, including a description of how undergraduates might be involved.
