Alfred University’s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Physics to begin August 2012. A Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field is required at the time of employment. Preference given to experimental physicists, although well qualified applicants from other fields will be considered. Opportunities exist for collaborating with our School of Engineering.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses spanning the undergraduate physics curriculum. We seek someone with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching whose research interests can be expanded to include undergraduates. We value colleagues who concentrate on effective pedagogy and are willing to consider interdisciplinary teaching. In addition to teaching, faculty responsibilities include an active program of research and scholarship, student advising, and participation in shared faculty governance.
