STEM Ed Research Analysis @ Science and Technology Policy Institute in DC


The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) is a non-profit federally funded research and development center that provides analytical support on science and technology (S&T) policy to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and other federal agencies.
STPI takes great pride in the high caliber and timeliness of its analyses, which are produced in an atmosphere that encourages independent thinking and achieves objective results.  Work at STPI often involves multi-disciplinary approaches to research in teams that include natural, behavioral and social scientists, and engineers. Strong oral and written communications skills are essential, as STPI staff work closely and regularly interact with key federal decision makers. 
Recent examples of S&T policy work include research on advanced manufacturing and S&T in the industrial sector, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, Earth observation systems, and federal data policies. We work across all areas of science and technology, including energy and the environment, economics and statistics, biological sciences, federal resource management, nanotechnology, engineering, national security, and space, among others.
Responsibilities:
The individual will provide research and analytical support on STEM education policy, as well as broader S&T policy topics, to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and multiple federal agencies.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with a PhD in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education (STEM Ed) or a STEM PhD with a record of scholarship in education and strong applied research skills.
Applicants will experience working on diverse S&T policy issues, and have demonstrated superior skills in a combination of qualitative, quantitative, statistical, or computational methods. Prospective applicants should also possess a strong interest in applied policy research. We are particularly interested in candidates a record of scholarship in the field of STEM education or STEM workforce issues.
US Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
