STEM Education Development Officer at NRAO

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) headquarters in Charlottesville, Virginia (on the grounds of the University of Virginia, and near the University’s astronomy department) is recruiting for a fulltime, salaried  “STEM Education Development Officer.” Funded by the observatory’s management organization, Associated Universities, Inc. (AUI), the STEM Education Development Officer will identify and implement opportunities for AUI/NRAO to contribute to the advancement of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education via partnerships, grants, and the leveraging of existing NRAO and other AUI assets, which include a large staff of scientists and engineers and a talented, geographically dispersed EPO staff. Such opportunities may include development of standard-based curriculum support resources for grades K-16, training of teachers (and teachers of teachers), and partnerships with outside organizations who are funding and/or spearheading innovation in STEM education at a national level. The incumbent will be based at NRAO and
work closely with the NRAO Education and Public Outreach (EPO) team, under the supervision of the Assistant Director for EPO. The NRAO operates the Very Large Array, Green Bank Telescope, and Very Long Baseline Array, and is the North American executive for ALMA—the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, which is the most elaborate ground-based observatory in history.
