Open rank @ SUNY Albany in NY


The Physics Department of the University at Albany, SUNY, seeks applicants with expertise in x-ray, spectroscopic, imaging or computational physics, with a focus in Bayesian/Information-theoretic methods for a tenure track open rank faculty position starting in Fall 2013.  Desirable candidates will be able to support the newly founded UAlbany Institute of Information Physics and  will be able to collaborate with existing experimental programs within physics, which include EPR, x-ray optics, robotics, and astrophysics, or within the university, such as the RNA Institute, computational and chemical forensics, data analytics, genomics, the Wadsworth Laboratory of the NYS Department of Health or the College of Nanoscale Sciences and Engineering. 
Requirements include a Ph.D. in physics or a related field and demonstrated scholarly productivity. Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching at all levels and to directing a vigorous and externally funded research program. Candidates for rank above Assistant Professor would be expected to have demonstrated significant external funding. Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.
