The Physics Department at Stonehill College invites applicants for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track appointment in Physics to begin August, 2015. This position will involve teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

We seek applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates in research, and who have a demonstrated awareness of the importance of diversity in education. The teaching load for a physics professor at Stonehill includes three undergraduate courses a semester, for a total of six courses per year, plus the supervision of physics majors and pre-engineering students. Our department has a state-of-the-art optics research lab. The lab is equipped with a femtosecond Ti:Sapphire laser system , optical tables, several oscilloscopes, numerous mirror mounts and mirrors, translation stages, a spectrum analyzer, Fabry-Perot cavity and many other components needed for optical experiments. 

Minimum Qualifications 

The applicant for this position should have a Ph.D. in Physics or Engineering with a strong physics background. Teaching experience strongly preferred.
