Illinois College invites applications for a one-year
visiting assistant professor position (with the possibility of extension
for an additional year) to begin in Fall 2017, in Physics.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in Physics or a related
discipline and will be committed to undergraduate instruction in a
liberal arts setting. Teaching responsibilities will include a
two-semester General Physics course sequence, Electric Circuits, and the
Dynamics semester of an introductory mechanical engineering course
sequence for 3-2 engineering students. An interest in teaching an
astronomy course for majors and/or non-science majors is desirable but
not essential. Scholarly engagement in the discipline is encouraged,
and funding is available for travel and professional development.
Opportunities and support exist for student-faculty research.
