VAP or VP at Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges

VISITING PROFESSOR POSITION IN PHYSICS The Joint Science Department (www.jsd.claremont.edu) of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges) seeks to hire a visiting professor in physics beginning in August 2011. Up to a three-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual review, will be made with an option for a second three-year term; rank will be either Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Professor depending on experience. This interdisciplinary department comprises biology, chemistry, and physics faculty. The physics discipline also oversees an active pre-engineering program. We seek exceptional individuals with demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or an engineering-related field and be able to teach a range of upper-division and entry-level courses. At the foot of the San Gabriel mountains, thirty miles east of Los Angeles, The Claremont Colleges are within a one-hour drive of Caltech, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine and UC Riverside.
