Research Associate at University of British Columbia

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UBC, with funding from the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative (CWSEI).

The successful applicant will work closely with physics faculty to:

establish sustainable procedures for identifying and effectively using broad-based learning goals, associated assessment tools, and proven teaching techniques in all of our undergraduate courses;
coordinate a pilot trial on a select set of courses
liaise with others involved in the CWSEI to coordinate the efforts in the Physics and Astronomy department with parallel efforts in other departments in the Faculty of Science
The initial 12-month term of employment is normally renewable for a second term, and may be further extended depending on performance and availability of funds. If extended, responsibilities will expand accordingly.

A Ph.D. in physics or astronomy and postdoctoral experience are both required. Applicants must articulate their interest in physics education transformation and research, as well as any prior involvement with such activities (if any). The salary will be commensurate with experience.
