ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR IN SECONDARY SCIENCE EDUCATION
Joint Appointment in Department of Curriculum & Instruction and College of Science

POSITION:
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Purdue University seeks an innovative secondary science educator at the associate or full professor level, who has a demonstrated record of leadership in the field and a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will have a 75% appointment in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and 25% appointment in the appropriate department within the College of Science. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek a recognized scholar in science education who leads a vigorous and coherent research program, has made significant contributions to the field of science education through a wide range of scholarly accomplishments, and has demonstrated leadership in the field. Experience in obtaining extramural funding and engaging in cross-disciplinary collaboration is expected. An earned doctorate in science education or a related field is required. In addition, the applicant must have at least 3 years of full-time science teaching experience at the secondary level.

DESIRED:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Expertise related to secondary science teacher education is preferred. In addition, experience in teaching science with technology is desirable. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in the physical sciences.

POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
This is an academic year position. The position responsibilities include:
Conducting signature collaborative research and disseminating results and ongoing findings via publications and presentations to local, state, national, and international education agencies and professional organizations
Seeking external funding in support of a focused research program aligned with strategic initiatives for the University, the Colleges of Education and Science, and centers including the Discovery Learning Research Center (DLRC) and the Center for Research and Engagement in Science and Mathematics Education (CRESME).
Teaching undergraduate level pedagogy and/or science content courses, and science education graduate courses
Recruiting, advising, and mentoring master’s and doctoral students

Science Education Program: The science education program is recognized nationally and internationally for teaching, research and engagement activities. Fourteen faculty and staff from both the College of Education and College of Science are members of Purdue’s science education programs. Each secondary science education faculty member at Purdue holds a joint appointment in the College of Science.
