Open Rank at Yale-National University of Singapore College

The newly established Yale-NUS College (YNC) in Singapore, a collaboration between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Yale University, announces the availability of faculty positions at all ranks and in all areas of the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and arts. For the natural science positions, candidates in any area of science, mathematics or computer science will be considered. We seek outstanding teacher-scholars for the inaugural faculty who have a particular interest in undergraduate teaching in a residential setting and are committed to innovative pedagogy. Candidates with enthusiasm for contributing to an interdisciplinary common curriculum in the liberal arts are particularly welcome. Faculty members are expected to maintain a strong research focus, with particular strength in mentoring undergraduates in research experiences. Startup funds, and continuing research funds on a competitive basis, are available through the College. The College will not have disciplinary departments, but joint appointments with NUS departments can be arranged in cases where the involvement of YNC faculty with research facilities, graduate students, and other activities at NUS would be mutually beneficial.

We expect to hire approximately 100 tenured or tenure-track faculty over the next few years, about a third of whom will be in the natural sciences. New faculty may start their appointment either in mid-2012 or mid-2013. Salary, benefits and leave policies will be competitive at an international level.

The College values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity. All particulars of the application process and links to the application site and to other information about YNC can be found at www.ync.nus.edu.sg/Prospective-Faculty.html. Review of applications begins on November 1, 2011 and will continue until positions are filled.
