The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and Health
Professions at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for the tenure-track
faculty position of Assistant Professor of Science Education to begin in August, 2012. UT
Arlington, one of the largest of the 15 institutions in The University of Texas System, is a
Research University/High Activity institution with more than 33,000 students including 7,869
graduate students in 31 doctoral programs and 75 master's programs. UT Arlington, located in
the heart of the Dallas/Forth Worth Metroplex, is a world-class institution attracting students
from around the globe. The College of Education and Health Professions is NCATE-accredited,
and is known for program excellence in PK-12 Teaching and Learning, Science and
Mathematics Education, Bilingual Education, Educational Leadership, and Kinesiology, and
houses the Southwest Center for Mind, Brain and Education. Science Education at UT Arlington
is a thriving, interdisciplinary program with rich opportunities for PK-16 research, teaching, and
service. The program has been awarded multi-million dollar grants from state and national
funding agencies for the promotion of STEM education initiatives. These initiatives are in
partnership with the College of Science, College of Engineering, and school districts in the DFW
metropolitan area, and include the UTeach Arlington teacher preparation program.

Requirements for this tenure-track position include an earned doctorate in Science Education or
a related field. As appropriate to the Assistant Professor level or higher, candidates must have
an emerging/established record of scholarly research and publication, grant proposal writing,
and successful college teaching, with use of technology to supplement and/or deliver
instruction. Candidates must also possess a commitment to inquiry-based teaching and learning
and field-based teacher preparation. Successful K-12 science teaching experience is required.
