VAP at Manhattanville College

The Physics Department at Manhattanville College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2012. This is a one-year full-time, non-tenure track position (with a possible extension for an additional year) as the primary physics faculty member at the college. The department maintains a physics major that graduates up to 3 students per year. Responsibilities include a full teaching load (equivalent to 7 courses/year), some departmental service and administration, student advisement, and oversight of teaching laboratories and equipment. The successful candidate will teach a wide range of courses as needed, to non-scientists and physics majors, and should have at least 2 years teaching experience at the post-secondary level (liberal-arts colleges preferred). We seek a self-directed, energetic individual who will be focused on students but can also fulfill a variety of other responsibilities. For consideration, send letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching statement and contact information of three references to humanresources@mville.edu.
