NTT Renewable Lecturer at Clemson

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Clemson University (http://physics.clemson.edu) invites applications for the position of non-tenure-track Lecturer. This is a full-time, nine-month position with benefits and is renewable annually.  Primary duties include teaching introductory courses.  Other duties, which are dependent on applicant qualifications, may include managing instructional labs, teaching upper level courses, or collaborating with department researchers.  Lecturers at Clemson University are reviewed annually in accordance with the university’s faculty manual (http://www.clemson.edu/faculty-staff/faculty-senate/manuals.html).  The appointment has a starting date of 15 August 2013.We are looking for a committed and dynamic individual who can strengthen our programs by engaging students from a diverse range of backgrounds, especially non-science majors, through their teaching.   A successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate physics/astronomy courses and labs and supervise graduate teaching assistants.  Opportunities exist for mentoring creative inquiry (undergraduate research) and assisting with departmental outreach efforts, as well as for summer support teaching on campus and online physics and astronomy classes.
