VAP at Hampden-Sydney College

The Department of Physics and Astronomy anticipates an opening for a one-year sabbatical replacement at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2013. We are seeking an energetic physicist or astronomer (some teaching experience in astronomy preferred) with a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.  The department currently has five full-time faculty members, whose research interests include high energy astrophysics, AMO physics, condensed matter physics and acoustics.
Hampden-Sydney College is a selective liberal arts college for men enrolling about 1100 students. The college has been in continuous operation since 1775 and is situated on 1300 acres in central Virginia 60 miles west of Richmond, VA.   The review of applications will begin April 1, 2013, and continue until position is filled.  AA/EEO.  To apply, send a cover letter, C.V., teaching statement and research statement, along with three letters of reference., to the email address below.
