Science Lab Coordinator, Claremont McKenna College CA

The Keck Science Department, which houses the biology, chemistry, environmental science, and physics faculty for Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Scripps Colleges (three of the five undergraduate Claremont Colleges), seeks to fill the position of Integrated Science Laboratory Coordinator. This is a grant-funded position with a two-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory review at the end of the first year. The initial appointment will begin no later than September 1, 2013. The Coordinator will work with faculty to oversee the set-up and preparation of the laboratory curriculum for the department’s Accelerated Integrated Science Sequence (AISS) and Introduction to Biological Chemistry (IBC) courses. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining a departmental website and organizing a national conference, both focusing on interdisciplinary science education, and aiding in the assessment of the educational effectiveness of the AISS and IBC courses.
A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related interdisciplinary field and at least one year’s work experience is required or alternatively a master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related interdisciplinary field.
