VAP at Earlham College IN

Earlham College invites applications for an anticipated full-time, 1-year visiting assistant professor position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, beginning in August, 2013. (Applicants may want to know that the Earlham Physics department expects a tenure search in Physics and Astronomy for a position beginning in August, 2014.) A possible teaching load would include a year-long, algebra-based general Physics course, including lab, possibly with some upper level courses. Preference will go to applicants with a Ph.D. (ABD acceptable) in Physics or Astronomy, or who have a Masters degree in Physics or Astronomy along with some teaching experience. Although the college is prepared to hire a full-time person in this position, we could accommodate someone who was only available 2/3 time.

To apply, candidates should send an electronic version of a cover letter, transcripts, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Michael Lerner (E-mail: lernemi@earlham.edu).

Electronic applications are preferred. If applications or support materials must be sent by regular mail, please send to address below.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
