2-year VAP at Univ of Maine

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Maine invites applications for a two-year fixed-length non-tenure track, academic-year appointment as Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2014.
Responsibilities include teaching three courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters within the full range of undergraduate physics courses.  This teaching load may include graduate courses, depending on the applicant's qualifications.  Summer salary is not included as part of this appointment, but the successful candidate is encouraged to apply for external summer funding.  Collaborative research with present University of Maine faculty is also encouraged, but not required.   A Ph.D. in physics or a related field is required by date of hire.  An established strong teaching record in an area of, or closely related to, physics as well as excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
