Job Summary/Basic Function:	Position Title Full Time Limited Term Position in Physics Department Mathematics and Physical Science Position Begins August 2015 Status 10-month limited term position Excellent benefits are available Description Primary responsibilities will include teaching Physics, advising students, and service to the college, community and discipline. Employment is contingent on successful completion of background check. The Department The Department of Mathematics and Physical Science offers associate and baccalaureate degrees and provides service courses to support associate degree and baccalaureate degree programs in nursing and allied health, as well as general education courses. The College Gordon State College has served the community and region continuously since its founding in 1852, and has been a unit in the University System of Georgia since 1972. After more than three decades of serving the state as a residential two-year college, in 2006 Gordon was named a state college and asked to develop selected four year programs to address critical state needs. Subsequently the College has launched baccalaureate majors in biology, English, health services and informatics administration, history, human services, mathematics, and nursing. Gordon State College serves approximately 4000 students and has more than 120 full-time faculty. The Community The main campus of Gordon State College is in Barnesville, Georgia. Located approximately one hour south of Atlanta, students and faculty enjoy the pleasures of small town living together with access to the many attractions of a major metropolitan center and an international airport. Minimum Qualifications:	Master’s degree in Physics or related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics. Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching with special attention to needs of diverse populations, prior teaching experience at the collegiate level. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology is required. Preferred candidate will be flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about student success.
Preferred Qualifications:	Doctorate in Physics.
