Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in physics with some graduate-level coursework in mathematics, or a master’s degree in another discipline plus a minimum of 18 semester graduate hours in physics along with some graduate-level coursework in mathematics.

Demonstrated: In-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught.

Proficiency in oral and written communication in the language in which assigned courses will be taught.

Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.

Belief in and concern for community service.

High ethical and moral character.

Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional delivery modes including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems.

Commitment to diversity.

Preferred Requirements:
A doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Physics along with graduate-level mathematics coursework.

Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment.

Summary of Duties:
Faculty position description per the “Agreement Between the Central Ohio Technical College and the United Faculty/Central Ohio Technical College, AFT/OFT.”

The faculty member is responsible for providing professional, quality work as a teaching faculty member. Work includes facilitating student learning by conducting and teaching general education courses at the undergraduate level, many of which are designed to transfer to a baccalaureate degree; using active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course; assessing student learning; and providing academic assistance to students as needed.

A full-time Physics / Math Instructor is a member of the College’s Biological and Physical Sciences Department as well as the Math Department, both of which are housed in the Division of STEM / Arts and Sciences. The primary teaching responsibility for this position is Physics. This faculty member teaches lower-division physics courses and college- and pre-college level math courses. Specific teaching assignments will be based in large part (but not solely) on the faculty member’s educational training and professional expertise.
