Job Summary/Basic Function: The Department of Physical Sciences invites
applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position in physics and
astronomy. The successful candidate will provide 36 hours of instruction
(lecture and laboratory) per academic year, consistent with the
college's mission, and maintain office hours for student tutoring. This
is a full-time, non-tenure track position. Lecturers are appointed
on a year to year basis renewable up to six years.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Master's degree in physics and/or astronomy
(completed by the date of appointment) is required. A doctoral degree is preferred.
Preferred
Qualifications: Ability to teach a
variety of physics and astronomy courses at the college- level. Ability
and desire to teach effectively using a variety of methods. Ability
to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student
learning. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated
knowledge of instructional technology.
Experience: Prior physics and astronomy teaching experience at the collegiate level, including
online teaching is desired.
Physical Requirements: Position
requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials.
Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate
vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in
person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal
environmental conditions.
Pre-Employment Requirements: A criminal
history check is required.
Work Hours: Position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends).
Salary: $37,581 - $47,731 (10
month Salary Range)
