Position Description
PHYSICS DEPARTMENT, FULL-TIME LECTURER. The Physics Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking to hire one or more Full-Time Lecturers for academic year 2017-2018 (with possible extension) to begin September 7, 2017. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate physics (and possibly astronomy) lecture and lab courses.
Required Qualifications / Specialized Skills
A Ph.D. in physics or astronomy (or a closely related field with a strong physics background) is required. All requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed before September 7, 2017.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of (or potential for) excellence in teaching. Candidates in all stages of their career are encouraged to apply.

The Physics Department has approximately 45 faculty, whose primary function is teaching undergraduate physics courses to students in technical disciplines. We offer programs of study leading to Bachelor Degrees in Physics, with approximately 200 majors currently enrolled. We also offer courses in astronomy, geology, geophysics, and oceanography.
