Instructor in Physics
Penn State Fayette, The
Eberly Campus is currently recruiting for an Instructor in
Physics. Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, Penn State Fayette, The
Eberly Campus is part of a multi-campus public research university
enjoying a world-wide reputation for excellence in teaching,
scholarship, and service. As a small campus, we offer both traditional
and
nontraditional students an intimate and supportive learning environment
with strong ties to the surrounding community. At the same time, the
students have direct access to the extensive educational resources and
services of all of The Pennsylvania State University. This is a
full-time, one-year, fixed-term appointment with potential for renewal,
to begin in August 2017. Responsibilities introductory physics
courses for science, engineering and non-science majors. Courses will
typically include laboratory instruction. Depending on the candidate's
interest, responsibilities can also include significant emphasis on
science outreach, laboratory development and laboratory coordination.
Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and/or online classes as
needed. The successful candidate will participate in course
development, advise students and provide career guidance, participate in
campus, university, and community service activities, and
demonstrate currency in Physics discipline scholarship. Candidate must
have a Master's in Physics (PhD preferred) or a closely related
discipline. Professional experience and evidence of effective
college-level teaching, with instructional use of technology, and
hybrid/online teaching is desired. Applicants must provide a letter of
application including a description of teaching approach and a

professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students
