Lecturer at Oxford College of Emory Univ.

Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for a lecture-track faculty appointment in Physics and Astronomy beginning in Aug 2011. A Master’s or Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or related field at the time of appointment is required. Previous undergraduate teaching experience and familiarity with current trends in undergraduate physics education is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate potential for teaching excellence and a dedication to undergraduate physics and astronomy education for majors and non-majors.

The successful candidate will be the laboratory director for physics and astronomy, teach introductory physics and astronomy courses as needed, and contribute to the life of Oxford College. The candidate also will be part of the innovation and growth of the curriculum and development of inquiry-based laboratories and courses in physics and astronomy. Oxford anticipates and is planning a new state-of-the-art science facility to encourage student-faculty collaboration, provide an environment for innovative teaching, and will be a model of sustainability.
