TT at Siena College

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Siena College (www.sos.siena.edu/physics) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position starting Fall, 2011. Our department is experiencing a period of growth and revitalization, including curricular reforms, an increasing number of majors, and active research programs in astronomy, biophysics, computational biophysics, and atomic, particle, and space physics. We are seeking a new faculty member who can contribute to the department’s research and academic initiatives. A PhD in physics or a closely related field is required, and postdoctoral and teaching experience are desirable. Candidates from a variety of specializations who are interested in teaching and research in a liberal arts setting are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach enthusiastically and effectively in introductory and non-majors' courses, as well as in courses for physics majors. He or she will also be expected to develop a vibrant research program involving undergraduate students. A facility for obtaining external funding is desirable.
