TT, Associate, or Full Professor at Indiana State University

We seek an individual with an earned Doctorate in Science Education or related field and a B.S. or M.S. in one of the sciences (preferably Biology or one of the Earth Sciences) where the candidate will find a tenure home. Evidence of securing external grants is a requirement and preference will be given to candidates who have a record of excellence in college teaching, K-12 teaching, and published scholarship in science education.

Responsibilities include directing the Center for Science Education; securing external grants that benefit science education; increasing the number of science education majors; fostering a community of science education students; teaching content and methods courses in a B.S. program in secondary, middle, and elementary science education; maintaining a record of published research; and providing leadership that encourages collaboration among the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, and K-12 schools.

Indiana State University has adopted the SENCER (Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities) Teaching Model into its strategic plan and assessment of this teaching model may be one opportunity for research. The start-up package and salary level are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Although initial review of applications began January 15, 2011 the position will remain open until filled. Our ranking of the candidates will not begin until February 2, 2011.
