Position Summary: The Science Education Program seeks an outstanding candidate for a position as a Research Scientist. The successful candidate will manage complex, highly visible initiatives within the Science Education Program geared to systematic reform in science. The successful candidate will conduct assessment and outreach efforts to evaluated needs and current program content. The Scientist will provide research support in the Science Education lab on current projects including dusty plasmas, plasma processing, and the development of new plasma sources suitable for high school classrooms and science museums and will also assist in teaching professional development workshops for K-12 teachers including Plasma Camp and Quest. Will provide support for the Science Education and IPPEX internet sites, assist in the development and data analysis of evaluations of the Science Education Programs and identify opportunities to implement new education initiatives. One must maintain a current knowledge and understanding of national and state issues in science education.

Essential Qualifications: Qualifications include: B.S. in physics or a closely related field. Research experience such as independent work or summer internship in a field of physics is required. Must have experience in web site development. The successful candidate is required to be proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent and in writing and editing complex documents. A knowledge of LabView or other data analysis software tools is preferred.
