ACT, Inc. is inviting qualified science educators to apply for the position of Test Development Associate, Physics in the Elementary and Secondary School Programs department. This position will be located at ACT's national headquarters office in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Test Development Associate will participate in conceptualizing, designing, developing, and implementing departmental programs, products, and services. Typical work-related activities include:
Develop and edit test materials according to specifications and participate effectively in content and fairness reviews of these materials.
Develop effective relationships with item writers, evaluating their work and helping them to improve it.
Participate in the construction of test forms according to specifications.
Keep current with research, trends, and best practices in science related to teaching, learning, and assessment in order to inform ACT's programs and services.
Assist in the conceptualization and development of new testing approaches that are consistent with current curriculum trends and learning theory.
Assist in preparing materials that support and document the content validity of the tests and assist in developing and reviewing test specifications.
Participate in efforts to connect ACT's products and services with classroom teachers and secondary and postsecondary institutions.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree (Master's or Ph.D. preferred) in physics or closely related field; at least 2 years of teaching, writing, and/or editing experience in physics; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing skills are required. Scientific research experience, strong organizational skills, and interpersonal skills are also required. Prefer candidates with at least 5 years of teaching, research, and/or scientific writing experience. Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment criminal background check as a condition of employment.
