Physics Faculty
(Full-time, One-year Term Appointment)

Starting Salary Range: $37,248 - $42,835

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The faculty member is primarily responsible for teaching a range of physics courses including physical science; mechanics and particle dynamics; electrodynamics, light relativity, and modern physics; and vibrations, waves, heat, electricity and magnetism.

In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies, including the use of technology; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; maintain reasonably distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum; participate in a variety of college committees and task forces; participate in community service activities; and advise students as appropriate.

This one-year term appointment, which covers a nine-month academic year, is scheduled to begin August 2012. Contract renewal is contingent upon funding and satisfactory job performance.

REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of a master's degree in physics and one year teaching experience or equivalent required. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to use technology in teaching and learning; incorporate student learning outcome objectives within courses and to assess these outcomes; demonstrated ability to teach a range of physics courses; and effective communication skills. Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience.


PREFERRED: Experience teaching physics at the college level, preferably in a community college setting, is highly desirable.
