VAP at Western Illinois University (IL)

Western Illinois University's Department of Physics seeks a temporary Assistant Professor beginning August 2012. Ph.D. in Physics or closely related discipline. Strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level (both physics and astronomy). Experience in working in an instructional or research laboratory setting with undergraduate physics majors, as well as with majors from other disciplines. Adept public speaker and presenter with excellent oral and written communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates whose specialization of research will provide opportunities for collaborative work with existing physics faculty. Post-doctoral experience with a strong record of independent research, publication, and external research grants is also desirable.
