Lecturer at University of Leeds

We are looking for a talented individual with a keen interest in science teaching and learning at secondary school level and a commitment to contributing to a programme of science education research. The post is based in the Centre for Studies in Science and Mathematics Education (CSSME), one of the foremost science education centres internationally, and will be available from May 2012. You will contribute to teaching at PGCE level in either physics or chemistry at Masters and Doctoral levels, depending on experience and subject background. You will also become involved in ongoing research activity to develop your own research profile. This is an excellent opportunity for you to join a well-established team of science educators, with an outstanding international reputation. You should have experience of science education research and a successful record of teaching physics or chemistry at secondary school level. You should also posses a first degree in a physical sciences or related discipline and a postgraduate qualification (this includes work submitted for assessment, but not yet examined). For appointment at University Grade 9 you will need a doctorate in a physical sciences or related subject (again including work submitted but not yet examined). An Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau is required for this position, due to the requirement to visit students on their school placements.
