VAP at Beloit College (WI)

The Physics and Astronomy Department at Beloit College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach full-time in the 2012-2013 academic year. The position is a sabbatical replacement, with strong possibility for renewal for a second year. The person we hire would be expected to teach courses in introductory and intermediate physics and astronomy, including laboratories, and must be prepared to emphasize active student engagement in science and collaborative learning in the classroom. This position is an excellent opportunity to teach in a small department nationally ranked for the number of physics majors as well as the percentage who go on to complete graduate studies. A Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field is preferred, but Ph.D. candidates working on the completion of their dissertation will be considered.

Please submit a cover letter, statements of teaching and research interests, CV, and transcripts, and arrange to have three letters of reference sent to Doreen Dalman, Physics and Astronomy Department, Beloit College, dalmand@beloit.edu, as email attachments. To ensure full consideration, please submit all materials by March 22, 2012.
