Teaching postdoc at U of Kansas

The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Kansas announces the availability of a three year postdoctoral teaching fellowship. The department maintains a vibrant research program and seeks to apply the same intellectual rigor to pedagogy. The candidate will assist a team of faculty within the department who are charged with transforming the introductory courses into a blended online/in-class format. Eligibility is limited to applicants who have or will have completed their Ph.D in Physics, Astronomy or closely related field by the time of the appointment. Opportunities exist for the candidate to collaborate with one of the research groups within the department. Job Duties:
40% - Develop educational materials to improve student learning and tools to demonstrate student achievement of learning outcomes in large introductory courses
20% - Enhance online course resources outside of class time and develop active learning activities to maximize concept mastery during face-to-face class and laboratory time as appropriate
15% - Partner with regular faculty members to teach and implement mechanisms for improving student learning and engagement in large introductory courses
10% - Engage in opportunities presented by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Course Transformation Initiative to enhance knowledge of best-practices and collaborate with similar initiatives in other departments on campus and at other universities
15% - Perform other related duties as required of this position
