TT at New Mexico State - Alamogordo

New Mexico State University Alamogordo seeking Instructor to Associate Professor of Physical or Life Sciences, full-time, 9-month, tenure track. To provide equivalent of 30 credit hours of instruction per academic year (fall and spring) assigned from at least two (2) areas of the physical sciences (for example: astronomy, geology, environmental science, physics, GIS, chemistry), or life sciences (for example: biology, chemistry). Teaching assignment may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, web-based classes and off-campus as assigned. Develop, revise, and update curriculum in collaboration with department, college, and university faculty according to established curriculum procedures. Conduct ongoing assessment of course quality and student learning and assist in review of program needs. Participate in institutional and program level assessment. Assist in articulation efforts with NMSU-A and other NM campuses. Coordinate with NMSU-A departments and with appropriate external agencies and organizations. Participate in committee assignments for the benefit of NMSU-A, professional development activities and community service activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in a Physical or Life Sciences discipline (degree must be in hand by the date of hire).
Minimum 2 years full-time teaching experience (or 4 years part-time) in a post-secondary institution within the past eight years.
Record of teaching excellence.
Ability to adapt to a modern learning environment, including online quality assurance.
Demonstrated experience with student learning assessment and program assessment.
Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and with other faculty and administration.
Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy.
Demonstrated interest in working with the community.
 Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with online instruction and Quality Matters.
Doctorate in a Physical or Life Sciences discipline.
Prior experience with student success initiatives.
Demonstrated record of action research or other scholarship devoted to the improvement of student learning.
 Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on learning experiences and strong faculty involvement.  Finalists will be asked to document teaching effectiveness with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration
