Description
The Hamilton College Physics Department is seeking a laboratory technician with an anticipated start in August 2019. This position supports the educational mission of the Physics Department. This position works full-time during the academic year, with 3 months off. The position is considered part time with 75% schedule.
Primary responsibilities are:
(1) Preparing laboratory materials, directing students during laboratories, and assessing student work in second through fourth year laboratories and
(2 ) Collaborating with faculty on the development new laboratory exercises.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
(1) Preparing laboratory materials, directing students during laboratories, and assessing student work in introductory laboratory sections
(2) Laboratory set up, management, maintenance, and development.
(3) Collaborating with faculty on devising and set up of classroom demonstrations.
Typically, the laboratory instructor will teach five laboratory sections per year in addition to other duties.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physics or closely related fields, commitment to undergraduate education, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work well with others. Experience in laboratory instruction is preferred.
