THREE Lecturers, Texas State

The Texas State University Department of Physics has openings for three or more full-time Lecturers beginning of Fall Semester 2019. The position is for the full academic year with continuation anticipated.
Our department offers baccalaureate and master’s degrees and currently specializes in the physics of materials, physics education, and astronomy research. Texas State is a comprehensive PhysTEC site (www.txstate.edu/physics/teachers/phys-teach-educ-info) and has a thriving, collaborative Learning Assistant program (www.txstate.edu/physics/laprogram) operating in the introductory calculus-based physics sequence. Use of evidence-based, active learning instructional strategies is supported and encouraged across all levels of the physics curriculum. The Department of Physics is proud to serve a diverse, inclusive, and highly connected student community.
Minimum qualifications for this position are Master’s degree in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field, and at least 18 semester credit hours in graduate-level physics. Preferred qualification is a PhD in Physics, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Science Education, or a related field.

  • Computational modeling in support of undergraduate research and coursework
  • Laboratory instruction redesign
  • Participation/Engagement in a Learning Assistant Program

  • Special courses for life science majors
  • Mentorship for student organizations and/or outreach activities.

Additional Salary Information: The 9-month salary for this full-time, benefits-eligible position is approximately $48K/year, with additional opportunities for summer teaching or grant work, depending on interests and initiative.
