K-12 Science Specialist at Arkansas Tech

Arkansas Tech University is accepting applications for the position of K-12 Science Specialist. This will be a full-time 12-month position with continuation of employment contingent upon annual funding. The expected starting date will be August 1, 2013

The successful candidate will be expected to:

A. Collaborate with the ADE-assigned School Improvement Supervisor (SIS) and will provide the following technical assistance to assigned schools:
i) Collaborate with the School Specialty Team,
ii) Participate in planning meetings with district and/or school leadership teams,
iii) Provide on-site technical assistance and facilitation to district and/or school personnel,
iv) And, provide and/or assists with specific professional development as noted in the School Improvement Plan.

B. Provide approved state-wide professional development and continue to provide technical assistance and targeted professional development to member districts/schools based on needs assessments

Required Qualifications;
  • Three years of recent teaching experience
  • A bachelor's degree
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license
  • Experience in adult learning situations, team problem-solving and professional development
Preferred Qualifications;
  • A Master's Degree preferred
  • A teaching philosophy that supports the Common Core State Standards for Science
  • Knowledge of current research and effective practices in research-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment
