Faculty at Bard High School Early College Queens

A national model for the reform of adolescent education, Bard High School Early College Queens seeks physics applicants interested in working with a diverse group of New York City students in a program that enables them to move in four years from ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College, as well as a New York State Regents diploma.

We seek to hire a physicist from any subfield who is interested in teaching and in developing a research program. The successful applicant will have college teaching experience, will hold the Ph.D. in most cases, and will be a skilled educator interested in engaging and challenging early college students. (Please note: U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.) In addition to introductory college physics and electives, s/he will teach physics in our innovative high school science program, which is designed to engage students with scientific research.

Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively with colleagues in developing and teaching an innovative science curriculum. Interdisciplinary interests and strengths (e.g. in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science) are desirable. In addition, all faculty actively participate in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities.

To apply, send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, and three letters of recommendation to ybergner@bhsec.bard.edu or to the address below.
