Instructional Support Manager at University of Virginia

The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia invites applications for an Instructional Support Manager position. In addition to serving as our primary Lecture Demonstrator, the Instructional Support Manager is the primary technical support for upper level labs and manages the instructional support team (classroom technicians and Elementary Labs Supervisor).

This position oversees support of graduate and undergraduate laboratory and classroom courses taught in the Physics Department; works with faculty to improve the quality of teaching in both laboratory and classroom courses in the Physics Department; facilitates the integration of state-of-the-art equipment into these courses by assisting in the selection, purchase, and maintenance of equipment as required; coordinates with faculty to support education outreach programs in the Physics Department.

This position requires creativity and strong electronic and mechanical design and construction skills. The position also requires solid user support skills and a willing attitude.A Master's degree in experimental physics is preferred however significant experience in Physics related technologies may be considered in lieu of a degree.Applicants must have two or more years of Physics Lecture Demo and/or practical laboratory experience with applicable principles and techniques.
