Summary Description
The teaching assignment will be courses in physics, astronomy, and/or physical science.

Minimum Requirements
 Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics OR bachelor's degree in physics or astronomy AND master's degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics OR the equivalent.

Experience that indicates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and personnel, including those with physical or learning disabilities.

Desired Qualifications
Ability to teach and develop curriculum in introductory and general physics, astronomy, and physical science.
The equivalent of one year of full-time teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
Ability to work professionally and effectively with colleagues.
Knowledge of or experience in technology appropriate to instruction and/or the discipline.
A strong commitment to remain current in the field and its instruction.
Effective communication both written and oral.

Salary and Benefits Starting salary of $44,243.77 to $72,093.60/year (177 days), 10 Months, plus family medical, dental, and vision coverage and employee life insurance (employee contribution depends upon plan selected.) STRS Retirement (employee contributes 8%).

Examples of Duties Teaching responsibilities include a regular load of lecture-lab courses scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend as assigned. An example of other duties includes holding office hours, participating on committees, developing or revising curriculum, evaluating textbooks and educational materials, working with colleagues to evaluate and improve student learning, advising students and other related activities.
