General Summary of Position:

Only current UML Employees within the Grants & Contracts (MTA/GRACE) bargaining unit will be considered during the first 10 business days of the posting. All other candidates will be considered after that period.

The Master Teacher will work with mathematics, science and engineering undergraduate students enrolled in the UTEACH UMass Lowell STEM teacher preparation program. S/he will teach and advise students as well as coordinate and supervise their placements in local schools and generally assist with the implementation of the UTEACH UMass Lowell program. Position is funded until August 2014.
This is a Full-time Professional position and is contingent upon funding.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

-M.Ed. or MAT
-Undergraduate degree in a life or physical science or engineering (not science education)
-Five years of experience teaching science in a middle school or high school
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Other Considerations:

-Ed.D. or Ph.D. preferred
-Middle school teaching experience preferred
-Knowledge of common core standards and science frameworks
-Experience supervising student teachers
-Knowledge of local school systems
-Massachusetts (5-8) science certification preferred
-Extensive experience utilizing instructional technology to enhance science teaching

**Please Note: This is a Full-time Professional position and is contingent upon funding.
This is not a faculty position although the successful candidate will be teaching. S/he will be expected to be on campus every day (except for days when the university is closed). Vacation time will mainly be taken Dec 24-Jan 2 and during July and August.
